The Autism Hearings in the Government Affairs Committee
Written by The Canary Party
Friday, 30 November 2012 15:22

Yesterday was a hallmark day in the vaccine/autism story.  For the first time in ten years, Congress took up the issue of vaccine/autism causation and families who care about this issue were pleasantly surprised to find that Congress is figuring out that there is a serious problem in the vaccine program.

Watch the full hearing here.

Watch the Canary Party Chairman, Mark Blaxill, testifying before the committee.

The Committee will be keeping the record open for another week, so you can submit any testimony that you would like to be included.  Submit to:

My name is Jennifer VanDerHorst-Larson, and my open letter to university officials was singled out by Brian Deer for response. As you know, Mr. Deer recently lectured at the university about the Wakefield/MMR vaccine controversy. On his website, Mr. Deer referred to my letter as a form of “abuse.”  (Please judge for yourself if it’s abusive.)  My letter here Mr. Deer’s response.

I am the mother of a boy with autism who developed normally – exceeding his milestones - until he received his Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) and other vaccinations at 15 months. He reacted immediately and showed clear evidence of regression the day after his 15-month shots. By 18 months, he had lost all of his skills.  By 19 months, all he did was cry, bang his head and say “go” – his only remaining word. I was told to consider an institution for him, and he wasn’t even two.

At age 12, he is now diagnosed as severely autistic and in need of 24-hour supervision. He will never be independent. My son is also diagnosed with colitis – the bowel disease that was diagnosed in the Lancet 12 children with autism – denied by Brian Deer who spoke at La Crosse University. The gut-autism hypothesis has been placed under prolonged attack by those defending the vaccine program, including Brian Deer whose unsupported statements about the Lancet 12 children’s health  (“They don’t have bowel disease!”) have resulted in UK parents being unable to find medical help for their autistic children with bowel disease, the effects of which are profound and tragic.

High Court Judge Mitting has since rejected Mr. Deer’s claim that the 12 children were not seriously ill and did not require the medical attention they received from Professor Walker-Smith’s team at the Royal Free Hospital where Dr. Wakefield co-authored the controversial Lancet paper.

The Canary Party Endorses Tony Amador for California's 9th District Assembly Seat!
Written by The Canary Party
Wednesday, 03 October 2012 07:00

The Canary Party is pleased to announce that it is endorsing Tony Amador for California's 9th District Assembly seat.

http://www.amadorforassembly.com

You may not be in his district, or even a Californian, but we consider Tony's race one of our most important because his election will unseat pediatrician Dr. Richard Pan who has worked all year to rob parents of their vaccine exemption rights.  Such legislators need to know that if they attack families, they will be removed from office and replace with those who support parental rights, like Mr. Amador.  So please take the time to support Tony, with your time and your treasure.   Contact friends and relatives in his district and encourage them to vote for him.

Tony Amador has been a strong supporter of the rights of parents to make vaccine decisions without unfair and intrusive government interference. He has joined the fight against Assembly Bill 2109, which was passed into law only three days ago, and limits a parents right to opt out of any vaccination for their child. AB 2109 was authored by the current 9th District Assembly Member, Richard Pan. The California Medical Association co-authored the bill.

Richard Pan and the CMA pose a serious threat to California parents who value vaccination choice rights. Mr. Amador has been a strong voice of reason, who has asserted that the Government should not be coercing or bullying parents over their health care decisions. He has been an active opponent of AB 2109, working along side parent advocates to defeat this unfair bill.

Tony Amador has a long record of public service, and is a well known, and highly respected person in his profession and his community. He served 13 years as a patrol officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.

After his tenure at the LAPD, he was appointed to various positions by succeeding governors:

  • Board Member of the Narcotic Addict Evaluation Authority
  • Chairman of the Youthful Offender Parole Board
  • Director of the California Youth Authority
  • Deputy Director of the Employment Development Department
  • Member of California Public Employment Relations

Among his many accomplishments, Tony went on to be appointed the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of California in 2002, a position he served until he retired in 2009.

He has the experience and leadership abilities that make him the best choice for the job of Assembly Member of the 9th District.

Tony Amador will speak up for parental rights to vaccination choice. His opponent will do just the opposite. We need Tony Amador to take that seat, which will give parents a fair voice in the 9th district.

We proudly endorse his campaign!

Preparing for Canary Party Endorsements
Written by The Canary Party
Tuesday, 02 October 2012 16:36

It is campaign season, and time for all Canary Party members to look for those candidates who will support our rights to make our own health choices, and support health policy that leads to better over all health outcomes.

The Canary Party will begin to announce its endorsements for federal state and local elections this week, but we need your help to find those good candidates.  Have a legislator who stood up for your right to vaccinate as you choose?  Spoke out to get GMO's labled?  Protected you from a mandatory medical procedure?  Then get them (and their opponents) our survey and see if we can endorse them!

If we want things to change, we HAVE to change out those in our legislatures who are keeping the status quo in place.

Download the questionnaire here, and send it to all of those running for office in your area.  We want to make sure our known friends get it so they can get the attention and support they need from our community, but we also want their opponents and other candidates to get it, both to find those whom support our causes that we may not know about, and to educate those candidates on The Canary Party and our issues.  Get to know those running for office by taking it into their office and delivering it in person.  Ask to follow up with them on any issues that they are not informed on.  Educate yourself on them and them on us!

Get their answers and your recommendations to us so that we can follow up and get attention on those that will fight for us.  Send the questionnaires to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

11.   Do you agree with The Guiding Principles of The Canary Party, listed below?

In recent human history, mankind has created and witnessed unprecedented changes in the balance between nature and technology. With the advent of the industrial revolution, technological progress has led to profound improvements in human health and quality of life. Important benefits such as improved sanitation and clean water have combined to reduce human mortality and extend the lifespan. As we recognize these benefits, we also know that technology works best when it serves human needs and worst when it imposes new risks on human development, creating a greater distance between nature and man. Paradoxically, as we become more reliant on technology, we risk losing sight of the proper balance between the benefits and risks of progress, especially in those technologies that intervene most directly in human health.

In order to restore that balance, we must pursue a future based on a more natural vision of human health, happiness and development, one that focuses on wellness rather than disease. The definition of wellness that guides the healing professions should not be the absence of symptoms in the presence of medical intervention, but rather the pursuit of health without the need for drugs. Realizing this future will require a more natural approach to wellness, especially early in life, but also throughout the lifespan. To restore the proper balance of nature and technology, The Canary Party seeks to restore balance to our civil society.

We hold these Principles to be self-evident:

Awareness - That awareness of the new man-made epidemics is the first requirement for ending them.

Precaution - That when complexity clouds our understanding of health crises, our moral imperative is to first do no harm.

Safety - That the best measure of a safe environment is the total health and happiness of an individual human being.

Choice - That the individual’s right to choose or refuse medical interventions affecting them or their children must be defended.

Sovereignty - That true empowerment requires that the individual is accorded and assumes responsibility for their own health, happiness and nutrition.

Freedom - That full access to the healing professions and to truthful information is essential to liberty.

Justice - That when injuries occur as a consequence of institutional failure, the victims deserve justice.

Integrity - That the cause of justice is best served when our governing institutions are free from commercial interests.

Compassion - That a compassionate society has a duty to provide injured and otherwise disabled citizens with an opportunity for happiness and to treat them with dignity.
